Another journal entry that's not a journal entry
me wanging on about pinching ideas and taking candy from a baby
(This little one defo has the look of “WTH you took my candy?”)
A moment of wanging on about something, because that’s what you do in a journal, isn’t it? If you keep a journal, that is. Which I don’t.
Right then. I’m fed up to my back teeth right now. Weary with the world and, quite frankly, people who pinch my ideas and words, which has been demonstrated to me brilliantly this past week or so.
You know the sort. Those who repeat what you’ve said, or take your idea and sell it as their own, to a room full of folk or via a nicely crafted presentation. Somehow forgetting to mention, ‘Ruth/Sue/Mabel/Gerry/Ed have been talking about this,’ or ‘to your excellent point Ruth/Sue/Mabel/Gerry/Ed I’m now thinking along the lines of, and if you don’t mind, will incorporate that into blah, blah, blah.’
Instead, they do the proverbial taking candy from a baby tactic, which Google and some bloke called AL, AI define as:
“Taking candy from a baby” is an idiom describing a task that is extremely easy, effortless, or foolproof to accomplish. It implies little to no resistance or difficulty in achieving a goal, often suggesting a significant, almost unfair, advantage or power imbalance.
Note to self: what a stupid bloody idiom that is, and what mean ba-lamb takes sweets away from a child?
Some will say my feelings are petty and that I should feel flattered, while others will nod and think, "Yep, I know what that feels like”. I don’t want to be mean in my thinking, but for the love of anybody who can think, share your own thinking in the future and leave mine to me!
Amazing how therapeutic a rant can be. Now, if you’ve a mo, let me share a great idea I have for a . . .
Thank you for reading, and have a super day.
Ruth
